Vera Wang

Vera Wang, established in New York , New York , is a famous fashion brand, mostly known for its wedding gown collection. The company was founded by Vera Wang, a Chinese-American woman who first begun her career as a senior fashion editor for Vogue magazine. After sixteen years of working for Vogue, she moved on to become a design director for Ralph Lauren. Disappointed that the fashion industry didn’t hold much of a place for bridal gowns and dresses, she decided to turn her focus to designing wedding dresses for brides. Finally, she opened her own design salon in New York , where she was able to display her bridal gowns. Vera Wang has reached a wide array of people in the United States, and globally as well. She has designed wedding gowns and evening dresses for celebrities, movie stars, and other well known, wealthy members of American society, including individuals like Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson, Uma Thurman, Mariah Carey, and Sharon Stone. Initially, she won much praise and gained recognition after designing a white skating dress for ice skater, Nancy Kerrigan, and to this day, she continues to design skating dresses for Olympic ice skaters like Michelle Kwan. Even as a young girl, she had trained to become an Olympic ice skater, and when she wasn’t accepted into the Olympics, she decided to turn to her other dream: fashion design. Vera Wang dresses incorporate good quality fabrics, and are very detailed. Many of her dresses include hand beading, and are masterfully tailored. They blend perfectly the old and the new, and the outcome is a beautiful dress that is both traditional and modern and contemporary at the same time. Her dresses are fit to enhance a woman’s body, and to celebrate the beauty of the body, rather than to hide it or diminish it. The typical Vera Wang dress displays an aura of innocence, charm, style, and classic beauty all in one. Vera Wang dresses can cost anywhere from $2000 to $12000, however, a large portion of her dresses are priced from around $2000 to $6000. Very beautiful and chic, her dresses are also affordable and well worth the price.
